Immigration and Industry – Get to know Saint John walking tour series

Learn about significant sites and buildings in historic Uptown connected to European immigration to Saint John, including Partridge Island. The tour will discuss the arrival of European settlers and the architectural styles they brought with them, as well as the local stone used in the buildings’ construction and the wealth collected from industry that made it all possible.

The “Get to Know Saint John Walking Tour Series” presented by the New Brunswick Museum will take place every Thursday evening of the summer at 6pm and every Saturday morning at 11:30am. Four unique walks, lasting 45 minutes to an hour, will tour through various parts of Uptown Saint John. Each walk will explore different themes and eras associated with the city’s natural, architectural, and social history.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, space is limited so bookings must be made a minimum of 24 hours in advance. Booking can be made by calling the New Brunswick Museum at (506) 643-2300. Cost is $5 per person or free with regular admission and can be paid for over the phone or on site. All walks will begin at the John Hooper clock outside the main doors of Market Square.
