Saint John, N.B, January 28, 2026 — The New Brunswick Museum is pleased to announce a $1.5-million contribution from Irving Oil to Making History Now, the Museum’s capital campaign supporting the development of a revitalized, world-class museum that will serve New Brunswickers for generations.
“This extraordinary gift from Irving Oil is a powerful vote of confidence in the future of the New Brunswick Museum,” said Tracy Clinch, Chair of the Museum’s Board of Directors. “Irving Oil has a long-standing commitment to our province, and their leadership support brings us significantly closer to realizing a museum that will serve New Brunswickers for generations.”
“We are proud to support a project that will be vital in showcasing the rich history of our home province,” says Irving Oil President & CEO Jeff Matthews. “For more than 100 years, New Brunswick has been our home as we have successfully grown our business. The transformation of Canada’s oldest continuing museum will leave a lasting legacy in preserving our provincial heritage. As New Brunswickers, we have so much to be proud of.”
When completed, the New Brunswick Museum will offer more than 134,000 square feet of space, including a new accessible main entrance at the historic Douglas Avenue site, as well as expanded galleries and exhibition spaces, a 118-seat auditorium, a rooftop terrace and much more.
Construction is scheduled to be completed in 2028.
