Fragments of Humanity: Archaeology in Québec

Embark on a captivating journey into Québec’s past through this significant exhibition showcasing over 200 artifacts from the more than 10,000 archaeological sites across the province.

Commemorating 50 years of archaeological discoveries, Fragments of Humanity unveils the stories, events, and lifestyles that have molded this remarkably diverse territory.

Presented by Pointe-à-Callière in partnership with the Department of Culture and Communications of Québec, this bilingual (French and English) exhibition offers a rich panorama of human experience, spanning ancient narratives to daily life. Explore previously unseen artifacts generously loaned by more than twelve institutions, including the Cities of Montréal and Québec, and Parks Canada.

Divided into four sections, the exhibition guides visitors through time and across the land: from the arrival of the earliest inhabitants to the emergence of European settlers, and from the realms of trade and commerce to the everyday existence of Québec’s Indigenous peoples. Each artifact provides a fresh understanding of those who preceded us and the enduring influence of their histories on our present world.
