Celebrate the art of quilting with a vibrant bouquet of 12 flower-themed masterpieces from the New Brunswick Museum’s collection of over 400 quilts.
To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Marco Polo Quilters Guild Biennial Quilt Show, this special exhibit presents a stunning array of pieced, appliquéd, and embroidered works of art created between 1867 and 2011.
More than just beautiful textiles, these quilts speak a language of their own, conveying emotions and symbolism that transcend time and culture. From romantic gestures to political statements, the intricate patterns and colours reveal the ingenuity, engineering, and creativity of their makers. Spanning almost 150 years, these quilts also document the evolution of quilting in New Brunswick, reflecting changes in fashion, marketing, and production, as well as the rise of quilting guilds and the art form’s revival.
Join us at the New Brunswick Museum Exhibition Centre until September 27, 2019, to experience the beauty, skill, and pride of New Brunswick’s textile heritage. “Bouquet of Quilts” is a testament to the enduring power of quilting to connect us to our past, present, and future.
