Statement from the New Brunswick Museum

The New Brunswick Museum stands in solidarity with Black members of our community and beyond. Canada and New Brunswick are not immune to the injustices of ongoing systemic racism. Museums are not neutral, and we acknowledge that many of our nation’s institutions have amassed some of their collections by virtue of funds and objects representative of those who profited at the expense of Black, Indigenous, and people of colour—leaving the history and practices of these communities underrepresented. The New Brunswick Museum is committed to the ongoing work required to justly represent the communities we serve. We pledge to uphold anti-racist practices, and promise to listen, learn, and do better.
