Vienna, Austria, is often associated with the artists of the Vienna Secession and the Art Nouveau/Art Deco movements during the turn of the 20th century, such as Klimt and Schiele. Interestingly, there is one group in particular who responded to these trends yet remains obscure from contemporary art discourse.
Vienna School of Fantastic Realism were artists, like Ernst Fuchs, who distinguished themselves through the combination of the motivations, techniques, and larger contexts that surround their work.
This presentation will discuss the many achievements of these artists in hopes to bring awareness to their contribution to Art history. Furthermore, it will demonstrate the scale of their influence and their connections to the past, present, and future.
