Dr. William F. Roberts: Forgotten Flu Fighter of 1918

16 December 2pm
Join Dr. Jane Jenkins, Associate Professor, Science and Technology Studies (STS), St. Thomas University, for a talk on “Dr. William F. Roberts: Forgotten Flu Fighter of 1918”. In the fall of 1918, when the influenza pandemic hit, New Brunswick was the only Canadian province with a Minister of Health, Dr. William F. Roberts. One hundred years later, however, Roberts’ work in New Brunswick as an innovative public health reformer has been largely forgotten. This talk highlights Roberts’ many achievements including the establishment of New Brunswick’s first Department of Health, and his efforts in fighting the 1918 flu epidemic. FREE EVENT.
