Architecture and the Great Fire – Get to Know Saint John Outdoor Tour Series

Architecture and the Great Fire

August 21

Prince William St. and Water St.

On the afternoon of June 20, 1877 over 1,600 structures in Uptown Saint John were destroyed by what would come to be known as “The Great Fire”. This outdoor tour will explore structures that survived the blaze, some that were built after it, and how the event has shaped the city as it exists today.

The “Get to Know Saint John Outdoor Tour Series” presented by the New Brunswick Museum will take place every Saturday afternoon at 2:30pm beginning on July 10!
Four unique tours, lasting 45 minutes to an hour each, will tour through various parts of Uptown Saint John. Each tour will explore different themes and eras associated with the city’s natural, architectural, and social history.
All tours will begin at the John Hooper clock outside the main doors of Market Square.
