Green Head Fossil Transcript

Dr. Randall Miller, Research Curator, Geology and Palaeontology, New Brunswick Museum

This is the Ashburn Formation. These are Pre-Cambrian rocks about a billion years old and we are at the tight locality of Archeozoic and Acadians. This is a stromatolite, this is the first Pre-Cambrian fossil to be properly described anywhere in the world. Dr. Randall Miller, New Brunswick Museum.

This locality was visited in 1890 by George Matthew, a palaeontologist in Saint John and he published a description of these fossils.
