Family Activities

17, and 24 February Saturdays 10am-4pm: Heritage NOW – Get inspired this month at the NBM as we celebrate New Brunswick’s natural heritage through contemporary artistic works. Check out temporary exhibition “BENEATH the surface,” a collaboration between Craft NB and Parks Canada, and participate in Crafting and Baking activities for the whole family. Regular admission. (Bilingual)

 

This Week at the NBM                                                          

15, and 22 February Thursdays 6:30-8pm: Handmade at the NBM: Rug Hooking. Free in NBM Foyer. Fee of $2 per project or bring your own supplies. Don’t miss out on these evenings of friendship and fun! Ages 14 to adult. (Bilingual)

19 February Monday 12-5pm: Family Day at the NBM. Free admission. Bring your family for heritage story-telling and creative activities for all ages.  Join in and add your family portrait to a group mural in the foyer!  Don’t miss our new temporary exhibitions, BENEATH the surface and On the Trail of the Monarch Butterfly. There’s something for every family member at the NBM! (Bilingual)

25 February Sunday 2pm: The Monarch – An Amazing Butterfly Story. Free admission. The Monarch butterfly is the only insect in the world known to make an annual migration of more than 4,000 kilometers - from southern Canada to a tiny wintering area high in the mountains of central Mexico. But the Monarchs are in big trouble; their numbers have declined precipitously in recent years. Join Jim Wilson for a talk that includes wonderful photographs to help understand the Monarch’s life cycle and challenges, and explains how each of us can do our part to save this beautiful and amazing insect. (In English) Snow Date: 1 March at 7pm.

NBM Birthday Parties for all ages! Book your birthday party at the NBM to receive a fun, interactive tour of a museum gallery & room rental for your festivities. $13. Per person. Some restrictions apply for room use. Please book two weeks in advance. Call (506) 643-2349 for more information.

Workshops require pre-registration at least one week before event by calling (506) 643-2349. Members enjoy a 20% discount on workshops where noted.
