Enjoy An Asian Experience this Weekend May 16, 17, and 18 at the NBM!

 

Great activities in celebration of Asian Heritage Month are happening this weekend, May 16, 17, and 18 at the New Brunswick Museum, Market Square.  Experience the diversity of Asian culture with a special exhibition from the Asian community, including cultural performances and workshops. Admission to the exhibition and activities is free!

In the exhibition From the Community: An Exhibition of Asian Heritage local Asian community organizations have joined forces to present a look at Asian history; the impact of Asian immigrants on Canadian society; and their unique artistic creations. The exhibition is presented in partnership with the Chinese Cultural Association of Saint John, the Korean Cultural Association, the Filipino Association of New Brunswick, the Multicultural Association of Saint John Inc., and the Asian Heritage Society of New Brunswick.

On Sunday, May 17, beginning at 2 pm, enjoy An Asian Experience with cultural performances and workshops presented by the Chinese Cultural Association.  From Chinese dance, music, and painting, to paper cutting, calligraphy, taiji, and tea art, enjoy a fascinating look into this ancient culture.

Of special significance, Monday, May 18 is International Museums Day.  In recognition of the day admission is free to the New Brunswick Museum. Celebrate from 12 noon to 5 pm with some Museum adventures of your own with friends and family. Enjoy activities, stories, and movies throughout the afternoon!
