Begin the Holiday Season with FREE admission to the New Brunswick Museum - Saturday, November 15, 10 am to 5 pm!

To celebrate the start of the holiday season everyone is invited to the New Brunswick Museum for a free day full of fun this Saturday, November 15 from 10 am to 5 pm!  There will be lots of activities throughout the day for the whole family to enjoy!

Chill out with mammoths, three-toed horses, lions and even camels with the new exhibition Ice Age Mammals visiting from the Canadian Museum of Nature in Ottawa.  Featuring dozens of fossils and touchable casts along with really cool interactives, Ice Age Mammals displays many real specimens such as a mammoth tusk that you can touch. Explore the dramatic effects of environmental change over time, from four million to 10,000 years ago and its impact on ice age mammals, climate change, extinction and humans.

In conjunction with the Market Square ‘Seuss-abration’ - a celebration of all things Dr. Seuss - the 1966 animated classic:  Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas will be playing every hour from 1 to 5 pm in the Museum theatre.  Don’t miss this holiday family favourite!

Before or after the movie, join in our popular Explorer Saturdays with hands-on tours, crafts, cooking and activities for all ages!  Share in our holiday Wartime Memories activities and explore how soldiers’ families prepared for the holidays in the past.  Learn how sugar was rationed in baking recipes popular during WWI and WWII.  Discover the special home-made gifts that were packaged and sent overseas for loved ones to enjoy while away from home.

Take a stroll through our galleries and enjoy some beautiful images from New Brunswick’s artists such as Miller Brittain: When the Stars Threw Down Their Spears - the visiting exhibition from the Beaverbrook Art Gallery; and from the new Know Your Own Artists series - Alexandra Flood: Tableaux.

Then enjoy Market Square’s Pre-Parade Party from 2:30 to 4:30 pm, before stepping out into Uptown Saint John to watch the Santa Claus Parade at 6 pm.

Come enjoy the free celebrations all day at the New Brunswick Museum!
