Palaeo Poetry at the New Brunswick Museum!

Poetry lovers, have you heard of Palaeo Poetry?  Here is a unique opportunity to enjoy a poetry reading by award winning Canadian author Monty Reid, Friday, October 3, from 5 to 7 pm at the New Brunswick Museum. All are welcome and admission is free.  There will also be refreshments with a cash bar.

Monty is presenting his unique style of poetry in conjunction with the new temporary exhibition at the New Brunswick Museum - Ice Age Mammals - a travelling exhibition from the Canadian Museum of Nature in Ottawa (CMN). Monty, who is also the CMN Director of Exhibitions, has won numerous awards for his writing, and has been nominated three times for the Governor-General’s Award for literature.

A well-known poet, Monty has 14 books to his credit. They include Karst Means Stone (NeWest Press, 1979),  The Last Great Dinosaurs (rdc press, 1991) and Flat Side (rdc press, 1992).  His most recent works are Disappointment Island (Chaudiere, 2006), Lost in the Owl Woods (BookThug, 2007) and The Luskville Reductions (Brick Books, 2008).

Born in Saskatchewan and a long-time resident of Alberta, Monty has worked in museums throughout much of his career.  His work has taken him from the high arctic to the tropics, providing him with great inspiration for his writings. In his spare time Monty enjoys playing guitar and mandolin.
