CBC TV licensing documentary on New Brunswick Museum BiotaNB

Flower Power Production Inc, a Fredericton-based film production company, is pleased to announce that CBC Television plans to license a new documentary film featuring the New Brunswick Museum’s BiotaNB bioblitz programme.

Entitled Every Living Thing, the film will be produced by Lloyd Salomone of Flower Power Production Inc. and directed by Kent Martin, an independent documentary filmmaker formerly with the National Film Board of Canada. The documentary will incorporate footage shot at the NBM’s Grand Lake Protected Natural Area bioblitz in 2013 and 2014, as well as interviews with participants, to document the purpose, process and value of this major, science-based, biological inventory programme.
Producer, Lloyd Salomone, is excited with the CBC TV and online license. “This documentary is a ‘labour of love’ for Kent Martin and me. It was filmed entirely in the 11,000 hectare Grand Lake Protected Natural Area in central New Brunswick and will showcase the incredible beauty and biodiversity that exists in that region of the province.”

“The New Brunswick Museum is very appreciative of CBC’s decision”, said Jane Fullerton, NBM CEO. “As New Brunswick’s provincial museum, we work to find ways to share the NBM’s activities with all New Brunswickers. CBC’s commitment to broadcast this documentary on television and stream online will enable those who reside in New Brunswick, and around the world, to experience the film. This will increase awareness of New Brunswick’s significant natural environment amongst a much larger audience.”

Peter Hall, Senior Manager of Arts and Documentary Programming for CBC Atlantic, confirmed CBC TV’s commitment to regional programming,  “We have been speaking with the producers since shooting began and are   following the films’ progress. The footage is unique and we are confident audiences will be very interested to learn about the intimate work of scientists literally metre by metre over the New Brunswick landscape.”

Funding to produce the Every Living Thing documentary film is being raised from a variety of sources. The New Brunswick Museum is supporting this initiative through in-kind activities and a financial contribution of $2,000. The CBC TV license will also provide opportunities for Flower Power Productions Inc. to access other film-related funding. The Echo Foundation in Montreal, QC has also offered $25,000 to the documentary film project if matching funds can be raised. Plus a crowdfunding campaign is under way with the goal of trying to raise $25,000 by the end of September 2015.
