NBM lower floor exhibits temporarily closed

The New Brunswick Museum (NBM) has temporarily closed the lower floor of the NBM Exhibition Centre in Market Square, Saint John.

On Sunday, January 27, a water leak flooded the lower floor of the museum. The damage was created by a frozen coil in an air handling unit pipe which split, allowing spilled water to flow into the exhibition area. The incident was handled by Market Square staff and contractors.

NBM staff responded quickly to the incident and were able to remove or cover artifacts impacted by the water. Damage to artifacts was minimal.

Various exhibition components were damaged; initial clean-up activities are currently underway, with repair work to follow. The affected exhibition areas will be closed to the public until the work is completed.

The NBM has reduced its general admission prices to compensate for the closure.
