Members sought for New Brunswick Museum board of directors

FREDERICTON (CNB) - New Brunswickers are invited to become involved in the policy, long-term planning and financial operation of the New Brunswick Museum by joining the board of directors.

Wellness, Culture and Sport Minister Trevor Holder announced that 11 positions on the 15-member board are open.

The board reports to the minister as the Department of Wellness, Culture and Sport is responsible for the museum and the management of its human resources and facilities.

"Participation on the board provides an opportunity to learn more about New Brunswick's rich cultural, social and natural heritage, and to make important contributions toward the preservation, understanding, interpretation and improved public awareness of this heritage," said Holder. "This is a chance for New Brunswickers to get involved in this community."

Considerations for board composition are as follows:

  • range of skill sets (occupation, experiences, interests) including a mix of professional, business, academic, cultural and community representatives;
  • geographic representation from throughout New Brunswick;
  • representation from New Brunswick's official linguistic communities;
  • representation from the Wolastoqiyik and Mi'kmaq First Nations;
  • a history of being active and involved at the community level.
