25 February Saturday 10am-4pm: February is Heritage Month – Celebrate Canada's 150th and the NBM's 175th! Regular admission. Explore fascinating stories about the origins of Canada, New Brunswick, and the New Brunswick Museum! Family activities every Saturday include interactive gallery tours, demonstrations, crafts, baking, and more! (Bilingual)

4, 11, 18, and 25 March Saturdays 10am-4pm: Discover the Franklin. Regular admission. Explore the Franklin Museum Network Pop-up Exhibition all month long at the NBM with discovery, baking and crafting activities. (Bilingual)

This Week at the NBM

18 February Saturday 7pm: A Singular Event. Join the New Brunswick Museum for ‘A Singular Event’ – an evening of visual art, dance, poetry and conversation exploring the exhibition Suzanne Hill: Singular. The Atlantic Ballet Theatre of Canada and Governor-General Award-winning poet Anne Compton will present their creative responses to a new exhibition of artwork by renowned New Brunswick artist Suzanne Hill. This is a unique opportunity to experience art as a source of inspiration, through performance and discussion. 19, 23, and 26 February Thursdays and Sundays: The NBM will be offering FREE admission on Thursdays and Sundays during the month of February.

23 February Thursday 6:30-8pm: Handmade at the NBM: Rug Hooking. Free in NBM Foyer. Learn basic rug hooking skills at the NBM this month. Take part in group instruction or work on individual projects in the company of friends. Fee of $2 per project or bring your own supplies. Don’t miss out on these evenings of friendship and fun! Ages 14 to adult. (Bilingual)

Educational programme for all ages – Celebrate Canada’s 150th and the New Brunswick Museum’s 175th this month at the NBM! 6-10 March: March Break at the New Brunswick Museum – “Navigating the Franklin Expedition” – The storied search for the lost Franklin expedition will be brought to light at the NBM this March break. Discovery, baking, and crafting activities, happening every day, will highlight this discovery, anchored in the Canadian identity. Regular admission. In addition to the Franklin Museum Network Pop-up Exhibit, temporary exhibitions “Suzanne Hill: Singular,” “Nurses Association of NB-1916-2016- One Hundred Years of Progress,” Mathieu Leger’s “On a Silver Platter”, and “Earth – Water – Sky” are waiting for you at the NBM Exhibition Centre. For March Break only, the NBM Exhibition Centre will be open 6 March Monday 9am-5pm.  (Bilingual)

12 March Sunday 1:30-4pm: BiotaNB Field Lab Open House at the NBM. Regular admission. BiotaNB is an annual NBM-led scientific research event that takes place in New Brunswick’s Natural Protected Areas. Visit the BiotaNB Open House at the NBM and discover the results of several research seasons in the field through a variety of activities including interacting with researchers while they prepare and preserve small mammal specimens for research purposes. Experience New Brunswick Museum’s fieldwork through several new videos. (Bilingual)

Whale of a Time!
       
Whale sightings, of the up close and personal kind, are guaranteed at the New Brunswick Museum! You’ll head indoors for this whale-watching experience, put on a lab coat and gain incredible insight into these mysterious ocean giants from a point of view you just can’t get out on the water. Examine real whale bones and discover what you have in common with these enormous mammals. You’ll know just ‘how big is big’ when it comes to a whale! People of all ages will leave the museum as ‘Bay of Fundy Tide Experts’ with great stories of the whales and the world-famous tides, this time through the eyes of a knowledgeable guide.  $15/person, minimum 4 guests Daily at 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. 90-minute duration. Discover Uptown Saint John

A one-of-a-kind discovery tour you won’t want to miss while visiting the city of Saint John! Museum interpreters offer a fun and engaging experience as you explore Uptown Saint John. Join us at the museum entrance to begin your 2-hour tour. Your guide will take you through the city (we’re bringing props in case you are easily distracted!). Walk alongside the harbour, listen to its colourful history; take in the sights and sounds, stop for a photo-op beside the full-size moose. Head uptown where you’ll get an up close look at the distinctive streetscape, a display of fine period architecture and outstanding craftsmanship. $15/person, Monday to Friday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

NBM Birthday Parties for all ages! Book your birthday party at the NBM to receive a fun, interactive tour of a museum gallery & room rental for your festivities. $13. Per person. Some restrictions apply for room use. Please book two weeks in advance. Call (506) 643-2349 for more information.
